Frame Fertility Launches Philanthropic Foundation To Improve Family Building Outcomes for Underserved Populations
Mission is to expand access and improve outcomes through partnerships, education and research for these communities
San Francisco, California - November 2022
Frame Fertility, an evidence-based engagement and coaching platform that helps members take a proactive approach to fertility and family building, announced today the launch of the company’s philanthropic arm, Frame Foundation, to further Frame’s mission to improve access, health literacy and health outcomes especially for under-resourced populations.
There are many barriers that impede access to fertility care and family planning resources including economic, geographic, cultural, and societal factors. Frame’s Foundation is addressing these disparities by providing a multifaceted approach including improved education, use of Frame’s platform, and additional research to overcome the barriers to care.
The Foundation’s first initiative is a partnership with the Black Women’s Health Imperative (BWHI) to launch their inaugural N.O.U.R.I.S.H. doula program at Morgan State University. N.O.U.R.I.S.H. stands for New Opportunity to Uncover our Resources, Intuition, Spirit, and Healing and is a year-long community based doula training program for college students to become certified doulas.
Through the program, students are educated and exposed to the importance of holistic health and wellbeing while gaining hands-on training as full-spectrum doulas to support mothers and birthing families throughout the preconception, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. As part of this partnership, the Foundation is also providing education to the trainees about their own reproductive and fertility health while guiding them through Frame’s personalized assessment, one-on-one and group coaching.
“Our Foundation is aligned with Frame’s broader strategy to support underserved communities that are disproportionately impacted by health and fertility challenges,” said Jessica Bell van der Wal, CEO and Founder of Frame Fertility. “If we want to address the significant health disparities in this country, we have to band together. I am thrilled to partner with organizations like BWHI to further their work in eliminating barriers for Black women and girls.”
“We greatly appreciate the support from Frame in equipping and coaching young Black women with the knowledge and information to understand their reproductive health, rights, and ultimately thrive ” said Dr. Kanika Harris, Director of Maternal and Child Health at the Black Women’s Health Imperative. “By investing in Historically Black Colleges and Universities including the surrounding communities, BWHI is poised to mobilize women that have historically been ignored and provide them with the reproductive healthcare they deserve. Our partnership is just beginning and I look forward to creating meaningful change for generations to come.”
The Frame Foundation is also launching a clinical research division to continue learning how best to support historically marginalized communities. To start, the Frame Foundation has initiated a clinical research study alongside an academic medical institution to improve patient engagement and health literacy among low-income populations to further improve health outcomes and better patient-provider relationships in a primary care setting. In addition, Frame is partnering with two Title X clinics on a collaborative research study to engage patients in their preventive care through community-based outreach and digital tools. The Frame Foundation is committed to exploring new avenues to improve outcomes by partnering with other 501(c)3 organizations through educational and research initiatives.
